Doesn’t scare me!

Alongside the installations of epic proportions on display at the Lyon Festival of Lights, more intimate creations popped up on the hills of the Croix-Rousse neighbourhood.

At several drawing workshops led by the association, children at Tables Claudiennes nursery and primary school gave a face to the monsters of the hillside. At night, the slimy, twisted creatures – descendants of fantastic beings such as the mountain-goat-like dahu or the canut – emerge from the closet and claw under the bed. Only light – a cracked door, bedside lamp or nightlight – can keep the nightmares away. Doesn’t scare me!

The drawings were blown up, illuminated and pasted to the walls of a strange, dark courtyard, where they greeted residents and passersby throughout the festival.
