Cities continue to attract the majority of the world population, raising issues related to construction, deconstruction, urban regeneration, transport, living environments, civic engagement and access to public services. Cities are hubs for creation and expression where contemporary social and cultural issues take shape. In these spaces, where human activity is extremely intense, the need to think about societal transformation manifests itself both in long-term urban planning and residents’ daily lives. Guiding citizens in their practices and new uses is a challenge that contextual designers can meet by working with communities and opinion leaders.
